The Risk Management Agency files, for every insured county and commodity in the United States, the premium, the indemnity, the liability, the quantity planted and lost, and the policies that filed a loss. - What arrives each morning?
- A short email naming the county-crops you follow and what the agency has filed for them since the last one. When nothing has been filed for your county-crops, you get nothing — a watch that sends a daily note about nothing is a watch the reader stops opening.
- What counts as a band movement?
- The band is the range of annual loss ratios a county-crop has filed, read at three points. A band movement is sent when an added year pushes a band point past where it stood, or when a county-crop beats its own worst year. The line names the year the agency filed the figure for, so the move can be checked against the agency's own file.
- How is this different from the free cause of loss tool?
- The agency's tool answers a query when you go and run one. The watch comes to you, and it comes about the county-crops you named rather than the query you typed last, so a change in a county you farm reaches you without your having to ask again.
