What each US port moved, and how much of it went by vessel
- 154Ports
- 1,590Port months
- 157Trade lanes
A port page carries the whole window (2025-08..2026-07, the twelve months the Census publishes last) for one port: total value, the share that moved by vessel, the share in containers, the air share beside them, the vessel shipping weight, the partner countries it traded with and the HS2 chapters the value sits in. A month page is that port in one month, both directions. A lane page is one partner country and every published port that carries it.
The value split by mode of transport is the Census’s own, published for every port × commodity × country cell — it is not an estimate derived from vessel positions, and no berth or terminal is named anywhere on this desk. The source’s finest geographic key is the four-digit Schedule D port.

Figures from the federal source files: EPA’s ECHO downloads, CMS provider files and the FMCSA census.
Vessel and containerized figures are the U.S. Census Bureau’s own mode-of-transport split of each port × commodity × country cell in its monthly Port HS6 Database, summed over the window named on the page; port and country names are the Census’s Schedule D district/port and Schedule C country lists. No figure here is an estimate and no berth or terminal is named: the source’s finest geographic key is the four-digit Schedule D port.
