Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration

Registered motor carriersalerts

The Company Census File is the register every active interstate and intrastate-for-hire motor carrier files with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. A standing watch reads each morning's additions to that register for the carriers, counties, states or the whole nation you choose, and returns the inspection, violation, enforcement and crash entries recorded there, each with the carrier named and the register it came from.

Questions

What does the watch send each morning?
The entries the agency has added to the register for what you watch: an inspection carried out, a violation determined, an enforcement action taken, and for carriers a reported crash. Each entry names the carrier and the register it came from.
Does the watch tell me when a carrier is added to or removed from the register?
No. The watch covers inspections, violations, enforcement actions and reported crashes. It does not send notice of a record entering or leaving the register, of a name or address change, or of a status or class change.
How is the watch scoped?
Four scopes are sold. Entity watches one carrier. System watches one county. State watches one state. National watches the whole register. Each morning's entries are returned for the scope you chose, and you can hold more than one scope at once.
What does each entry carry?
The register names the carrier, its operating authority, the county it is based in, its fleet and driver counts and its safety rating, plus the inspection, violation, enforcement or crash record itself. The entry says which register it came from so the record can be pulled and read in full.

How the figures are built

Every figure is the one its source document printed, shown with the file it came from. The three shares that are divided and the positions that are ranked are named on one page. Nothing is estimated. How each figure is defined.
